Mandate and functions of KVK
Vision: Science and Technology led growth leading to enhance productivity, profitability and sustainability of Agriculture.
Mission: Farmer centric growth in agriculture and allied sector & through application of appropriate technologies in specific agro eco system perspective.
Mandate: Technology assessment and demonstration for its application and capacity development.
Activities :
a. On farm testing to assess the location specificity of agricultural technologies under various farming systems.
b. Organize Frontline demonstration to establish production potential of technologies on the farmer’s field.
c. Capacity development of farmers and extension personal to update their knowledge and skills on modern agricultural technologies.
d. To work as knowledge and resource centre of agricultural technologies for supporting initiative of public, private and voluntary sector in improving the agricultural economy of the district.
e. Provide farm advisories using ICT and other media means on varied subjects of interest of farmers.
Thrust Area
- Productivity improvement of cereals, oilseeds, pulses, fruits, vegetables & tropical tuber crops.
- Nursery development practices, nursery preparation techniques for vegetables & fruits.
- Seed production of cereals, pulses & oilseeds and promotion of seed production of important crops through seed villages.
- Organic manure based INM for improving crop yield as well as soil fertility.
- Management technologies for dairy, poultry, piggery, goatry and introduction of improved breed of goats, pigs, backyard poultry & ducks.
- Up gradation of local goats, pigs and poultry birds for increasing productivity.
- Formation of Self help groups and farmers clubs to ensure farmers participation and empowerment.
- Propagation of mushroom technology and cultivation.
- Integrated disease and pest management in different crops and vegetables.
- Preventive and curative measure against common disease of cattle goats, pigs and fowls.
- Development of nutritional garden in homestead land.
- Entrepreneurship development and subsidiary income generation.
